What is a geocomposite?

A geocomposite is a geosynthetic material made up of two or more different components or layers that are combined to create a single product with enhanced characteristics and functions. Geocomposites are typically used in a variety of civil engineering and environmental applications, including drainage systems, erosion control, waste management, and soil stabilization. The different components of a geocomposite can include woven or non-woven geotextiles, geogrids, geomembranes, or other geosynthetic materials, and they are usually bonded or mechanically attached to one another in a specific configuration to provide the desired performance properties.
