What is a fan coil unit?

A fan coil unit (FCU) is a type of air handling unit (AHU) that is commonly used in HVAC systems to provide temperature control within a building. It consists of a fan, a heating or cooling coil, and a filter. The fan draws air from the room, passes it through the coil, and then re-circulates it back into the space. The heating or cooling coil can be connected to a hot water or chilled water system, or it can have its own electric heating or cooling element. FCUs are used in a variety of commercial and residential buildings, including hotels, hospitals, apartments, and offices.
