What is a building envelope system?

A building envelope system is the physical barrier between the inside and outside of a building. It includes all elements of the building that separate inside from outside, such as walls, roofs, doors, windows, and insulation. The purpose of a building envelope system is to control the movement of heat, air, and moisture in and out of the building, while providing protection from the elements, maintaining indoor comfort levels, and conserving energy. A well-designed building envelope system can enhance the overall energy efficiency, durability, and lifespan of a building.
