What is a power amplifier?

A power amplifier is an electronic device that increases the power of a signal. It takes a low-level signal and boosts it to a higher level so that it can drive a speaker or other load. Power amplifiers are used in audio systems, RF transmitters, and other applications where a high power output is required. They typically use transistor or vacuum tube amplification stages and can produce output powers ranging from a few watts to several kilowatts.
