What is Regionalism?

Regionalism refers to the political, social, or economic system which focuses on strengthening the cultural, economic, and political ties between regions or subnational entities within a larger nation-state. It encompasses a range of ideologies and practices that emphasize the importance of local or regional identity, language, traditions, and customs. Regionalism can take different forms, such as decentralization of political authority, territorial autonomy, economic integration, cultural preservation, and promotion of intra-regional cooperation. It is often viewed as a response to the centralization of power, globalization, and homogenization of culture.
