What is a transverse frame?

A transverse frame is a structural support element that runs perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of a vehicle or vessel. It provides strength and rigidity to the frame or hull of the vehicle, typically at regular intervals along its length. In ships, transverse frames are often known as bulkheads and are used to compartmentalize the hull for additional safety and stability. In automobiles, transverse frames are commonly found in the front and rear of the vehicle to support the engine and suspension components.
