What is naval architecture?

Naval architecture is a field of engineering that deals with the design, construction, and maintenance of all types of water crafts including ships, boats, submarines, and other marine vessels. Naval architects are involved in the development of new vessels, modification and improvement of existing ones, assists in the selection of propulsion systems, evaluate structural strength, stability, and safety, and also considers environmental factors such as water dynamics, seaworthiness, and sustainability. It combines knowledge of physics, materials science, hydrodynamics, and computer-aided design to create safe, efficient, and functional vessels.
