What is the difference between a double-hung and a single-hung window?

A single-hung window has a fixed top sash and a moveable bottom sash that slides vertically. In contrast, a double-hung window has both top and bottom sashes that can move up and down separately. This allows for greater control over ventilation and can make cleaning easier as both sashes can be tilted inward.
