What is a design charrette?

A design charrette is a collaborative brainstorming session conducted by a group of designers, architects, and stakeholders in order to conceptualize and develop creative solutions to a design problem or challenge. It typically involves intensive and focused work over a specified period of time, usually a few hours or days. The aim is to generate numerous ideas and proposals, refine them, and ultimately arrive at a consensus on the best options to move forward with. The process can involve a range of activities, including sketching, modeling, group discussions, presentations, and feedback sessions. The result of a design charrette is a set of development plans or proposals that can be further refined and implemented.
