What is phenomenology?

Phenomenology is a philosophical approach that focuses on the study of conscious experience and the ways in which humans experience the world around them. It seeks to understand the structures and dynamics of subjective experiences, such as perception, thought, and emotion, with the goal of uncovering the essential features of such experiences. Phenomenology emphasizes the importance of bracketing or suspending preconceptions and biases in order to properly investigate and describe subjective experience. It was first developed by the German philosopher Edmund Husserl in the early 20th century and has since been influential in a range of disciplines including psychology, anthropology, and literary theory.
