What is a post-occupancy analysis?

Post-occupancy analysis (POA) is a process that evaluates the success of a newly constructed or renovated building after it has been occupied for a period of time. This analysis can include surveys of occupants, tracking energy usage, testing indoor air quality, assessing the building’s functionality and design, and examining the building’s impact on the environment. The data collected during POA is used to identify areas that may require adjustments or changes to improve the building’s performance and to inform future building designs.
