What is the difference between industrial design and consumer packaging design?

Industrial design pertains to the process of designing products in a way that they are both functional and aesthetically pleasing. It involves designing products like machinery, appliances, tools, and equipment to meet the needs of the end-users. Consumer packaging design, on the other hand, is a part of industrial design that focuses solely on the packaging of a product. It involves designing the containers or wrapping for products that can be easily opened, stored, displayed or transported. The primary goal of consumer packaging design is to attract consumers and entice them to purchase the product. While both design types have similar goals of attracting users or consumers, the main difference is that industrial design focuses on the functionality of the product, whereas packaging design concentrates on the physical presentation of the product.
