What is the Green Globes program?

The Green Globes program is an environmental assessment and certification program for buildings and building projects. It was created in Canada in the early 2000s as an alternative to the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) program, and is now available in the United States. The program uses a rating system of one to four globes to rate the sustainability of a building in areas such as energy use, water use, materials, indoor environment, and site sustainability. The Green Globes program is administered by the Green Building Initiative (GBI), an organization that focuses on promoting sustainable building practices and reducing the environmental impact of buildings.
